Australian Business & Hospitality Training (ABHT) is looking for an energetic, experienced and passionate Hospitality Trainer & Assessor to join our growing Behind the Bar program.
You’ll be training predominantly across Logan Central and Capalaba, servicing Brisbane’s southside and eastside.
This is not your typical classroom training role.
Behind the Bar is a practical, hands-on hospitality program designed to give students the skills, confidence and personality they need to actually succeed in the hospitality industry.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality.
Someone who feels at home behind a bar.
Someone who can shake a cocktail, pour a beer, talk spirits, work a coffee machine, engage a room and show students what great hospitality actually looks like.
What you'll be teaching Our Behind the Bar students develop practical skills across areas including:
- Bar operations
- Beer, wine, spirits and liqueurs
- Cocktail preparation and presentation
- Barista and coffee skills
- RSA and responsible service
- Food safety
- Customer service
- Working effectively in a hospitality team
- Workplace safety
- Real-world hospitality skills and industry expectations
And we want to make the experience fun.
If you can bring some theatre to the bar, even better.
Cocktail flair, bottle tricks, presentation techniques, product knowledge, customer interaction and those little tricks of the trade that you only learn after years in hospitality are exactly what we want our students exposed to.
Who we're looking for
You might be an experienced bartender, bar manager,
venue manager or hospitality professional who has moved into training and assessing and now wants to pass that knowledge on to the next generation.
You’ll be someone who:
- Has genuine, recent hospitality and bar experience
- Has a real passion for hospitality and working behind the bar
- Has a strong personality and can engage a group
- Loves teaching practical, hands-on skills
- Can build confidence in people who may be completely new to hospitality
- Understands what employers actually expect from hospitality staff
- Makes training energetic, practical and enjoyable
- Takes pride in seeing students develop and succeed
- Is comfortable travelling between our Logan Central and Capalaba training locations
We don't want someone who simply reads from a PowerPoint.
We want someone who can create an experience.
Essential qualifications – please read before applying To be considered for this position, you must:
- Hold a current, compliant Training and Assessment (TAE) qualification that enables you to train and assess within an RTO
- Hold a minimum Certificate III in Hospitality
- Have relevant hospitality industry experience and vocational competency in the areas you will be delivering
A Certificate IV in Hospitality or Diploma of Hospitality Management is highly desirable and will be looked upon very favourably.
If you have higher-level hospitality qualifications, substantial industry experience and solid practical bar skills, even better.
Please note: This is a Trainer & Assessor position. Applicants who do not hold the required qualifications cannot be appointed to the role.

Sound like your kind of job?
