About the role

Band 4

TasNetworks is seeking an internal applicant that is an experienced Distribution Lines Work Inspector to support the delivery of new overhead and underground distribution assets for the North West Transmission Developments (NWTD). In this field-based role, you will provide on-site oversight, quality assurance, and technical verification to ensure distribution construction works meet TasNetworks' design standards, safety requirements, and project milestones.

You will work closely with contractors, project engineers, outage planners, and TasNetworks' Distribution teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with approved specifications. You will be the first point of escalation for field-based delivery matters and play a key role in validating payment claims through accurate measurement and capture processes.

This role is ideal for someone with deep distribution construction experience, strong technical judgement, and a commitment to safe, compliant and reliable network delivery.

What you'll do

- Conduct inspections of overhead and underground distribution line construction, including associated civil and electrical works.
- Monitor contractor performance, identify non-conformances, and escalate issues requiring corrective action.
- Perform routine inspections and verification checks on distribution assets, providing clear and accurate reporting outcomes.
- Issue site directives under the delegation framework to maintain program alignment and manage scope changes.
- Confirm completion of works and validate contractor payment claims through project measure and capture processes.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, audit documentation, and field assessments throughout construction.
- Ensure compliance with safety legislation, environmental obligations, and service delivery standards.
- Assist outage planners with field scoping and assurance activities related to network reliance.
- Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and safe work method reviews.
- Liaise with contractors, project engineers, and site supervisors to support timely delivery of project milestones.
- Support network reliability and response requirements as needed.
- Perform any other duty or task reasonably and lawfully directed by TasNetworks.

About you

You're an experienced distribution construction professional with strong capability in overhead and underground network delivery. You bring practical judgement, technical confidence, and the ability to work independently across dispersed project sites.

You understand distribution drawings, network configurations,

and construction standards, and you're comfortable influencing contractor outcomes and identifying issues early. You take pride in delivering safe, compliant, high-quality work and supporting TasNetworks' project objectives.

You will also bring:

- Cert III in Distribution or Electrotechnology.
- 10+ years' experience in distribution construction (live and de-energised).
- Experience in overhead or underground distribution maintenance or inspection (highly desirable).
- HR licence, EWP licence, and other relevant industry qualifications.
- Ability to interpret drawings, network configurations, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of contractual objectives and ability to apply them in a field-based environment.
- Ability to identify workmanship gaps and ensure re-work is completed to standard for payment sign-off.
- Strong communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a self-directed team.
- Capacity to work across remote or dispersed project sites.
