The Farming Operation
Noongaburra Farm is situated just 12 kilometres from the vibrant town of Hay, along the scenic Murrumbidgee River. The property typically supports 1,000 hectares of irrigated summer crops and between 1,500 and 2,000 hectares of irrigated winter crops, offering a diverse and productive agricultural environment.
About the role
We're seeking a reliable and motivated Farm Hand / Machinery Operator to join the team and support day-to-day cropping and general farm operations. Working closely with the Farm Manager, this hands-on role will involve operating and maintaining farm machinery, assisting with irrigation and crop production activities, and helping to maintain the property and its infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Safely operate John Deere farm machinery and precision planters.
- Complete machinery pre-start checks, routine servicing and basic maintenance.
- Assist with irrigation operations,
including monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Support crop production activities as directed by the Farm Manager.
- Monitor machinery performance and promptly report faults or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with general property, workshop and infrastructure maintenance.
- Maintain accurate machinery, spray and operational records as required.
- Follow workplace health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of the farm team.
About you
- Previous experience in broadacre or irrigated farming is preferred.
- Confidence operating tractors and contemporary agricultural machinery.
- Experience with GPS and auto-steer systems is highly regarded.
- Practical mechanical aptitude and a proactive approach to machinery care.
- A reliable, safety-focused attitude and willingness to undertake varied farm duties.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak sowing and harvest periods.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A current driver's licence; an HC licence and ChemCert are desirable.
- Must have their own accommodation.
