About the Opportunity
As a Parks & Gardens Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining and improving the Shire's parks, gardens, reserves, recreational areas, roadsides and public spaces. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll contribute to creating attractive, safe and welcoming environments for residents and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain parks, gardens and reserves through mowing, turf management, planting, pruning and weed control.
- Operate and maintain plant, equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Undertake a variety of manual outdoor tasks and team-based projects.
- Support environmental sustainability and the preservation of the Shire's natural assets.
- Engage positively with residents and visitors, providing professional and courteous customer service.
- Follow safe work practices and actively contribute to a strong workplace health and safety culture.
- Participate in training and rotational duties to build skills across the Parks and Reserves team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have -
Essential Requirements
- Has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Enjoys outdoor, hands-on work and is physically capable of undertaking manual tasks.
- Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrates initiative, reliability and flexibility.
- Has strong interpersonal skills and enjoys engaging with the community.
- Shares our commitment to safety, sustainability and teamwork.
- Relevant horticultural qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Current Western Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
- Current White Card.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices
Candidates must be willing to complete a pre‑employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening) and provide a current National Police Clearance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- HR or MR Driver's Licence.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Traffic Management accreditation.
- Chainsaw operation certification.
- Chemical Handling accreditation.
- Experience operating horticultural and grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, brush cutters, blowers, hedge trimmers and tractors

Hours – Full Time - 76 hours / 9 day fortnight.
Salary - $73,273.22 per annum + Allowances
