Tradewind Australia is currently recruiting for an experienced AOD Program Facilitator to join a multidisciplinary healthcare team delivering Alcohol and Other Drug support within a correctional environment in Lara.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an AOD professional who enjoys working directly with clients, facilitating groups and delivering practical harm reduction and relapse prevention interventions.
Working with individuals in custody, you will support people with often complex histories of substance use, mental health concerns, trauma and involvement with the justice system. The role has a strong focus on harm minimisation, recovery and helping individuals develop the skills and strategies needed to reduce AOD-related harm both in custody and following release.
The Role
As an AOD Program Facilitator, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare and allied health professionals to provide assessment, intervention and group-based AOD programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting AOD assessments and screenings with individuals in custody
- Facilitating group programs focused on harm reduction, drug awareness, relapse prevention and recovery
- Delivering release preparation and harm reduction education, including Naloxone education
- Developing individual treatment and support plans
- Supporting clients to identify effective coping strategies and reduce the risk of relapse
- Working from a trauma-informed, person-centred and recovery-focused approach
- Collaborating with health, justice and reintegration services to support continuity of care
- Maintaining accurate case notes, treatment summaries and program documentation
- Contributing to multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning
- Supporting positive engagement with individuals who may have complex or challenging presentations
About You
We are looking for someone with experience working within AOD, mental health, community services, justice or another relevant human services setting.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
A relevant qualification in AOD, social work, counselling, psychology, nursing or a related discipline
Certificate IV or Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs will also be considered
Experience supporting people experiencing substance use concerns
Knowledge of contemporary harm minimisation and recovery approaches
Experience facilitating groups or psychoeducational programs
An understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice
Solid written communication and case noting skills
Confidence working with complex clients and within a multidisciplinary environment
Knowledge or experience within the Victorian justice or correctional system would be highly regarded
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to use your AOD experience in a setting where effective intervention can have a genuine impact.
You will have the opportunity to work within an experienced multidisciplinary team while supporting individuals to better understand their substance use, develop practical harm reduction strategies and prepare for their transition back into the community.
The role also offers ongoing professional development, training and peer supervision within a supportive team environment.
