We’ve partnered with Safesky Systems to recruit an experienced Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership across its engineering organisation and help shape the next generation of uncrewed aviation products.

Safesky Systems is a rapidly growing technology company delivering innovative uncrewed aviation surveillance and situational awareness solutions, combining advanced software, data intelligence and aviation expertise.

About the role

Reporting to the CTO, you will work closely together to shape the engineering roadmap and translate technology strategy into clear engineering priorities and high-quality product and delivery outcomes. You will provide technical leadership across hardware, software and aviation technology, while leading and mentoring engineers and helping strengthen Safesky's engineering capability. This is an prospect to stay close to the technology, influence product evolution and solve complex engineering challenges across advanced uncrewed aviation systems.

Key responsibilities

Lead multidisciplinary engineering activities across hardware, software and aviation technology.

Provide technical leadership across architecture, systems integration, flight control, reliability and product development.

Lead and mentor engineers, technical leads and senior engineers.

Oversee technical planning, resource allocation and engineering delivery.

Establish strong engineering standards, development practices and quality frameworks.

Drive innovation across uncrewed aviation technology, data analytics and real-time systems.

Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to strengthen product capability.

Collaborate closely with Product, Operations,



Sales and Executive Leadership.

Provide technical expertise during customer meetings, strategic partnerships and product demonstrations when required.

About you

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.

15+ years of engineering experience, including senior technical leadership roles.

5 to 10 years' experience designing and operating uncrewed aircraft systems.

Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

Strong experience with UAS flight-control and system-control platforms.

Demonstrated success delivering complex technology products from concept to market.

Strong understanding of hardware and software architecture, systems integration, flight control and flight testing.

Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering matters clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to translate business objectives into engineering outcomes.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain an appropriate Australian Government security clearance.

Meaningful influence over engineering priorities and product development.

Access to advanced uncrewed aviation technologies and complex engineering challenges.
