The Team

The Launceston General Hospital is Tasmania's second largest hospital with a busy elective and emergency service utilising 9 main Operating Theatres. The LGH works closely with the University of Tasmania and is a major clinical teaching and research centre. All our services work closely together to deliver excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, workforce and the Tasmanian community guided by our CARE values.

The Role

- Provide clinical supervision, coaching and assessment of novice nurses within the Operating Room Suite, supporting their transition to safe, competent and confident practice.
- Collaborate with education, clinical and leadership teams to identify learning needs, establish goals, monitor progress and provide objective feedback against professional and organisational standards.
- Promote evidence-based practice, quality improvement and clinical leadership while supporting safe, person-centred care and contributing to the development of a positive learning culture.

You will need

- Current registration with the NMBA as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, with demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and practice relevant to the service.
- Demonstrated clinical coaching, teaching, supervision and assessment skills, with the ability to support novice clinicians to develop critical thinking, clinical competence and reflective practice.
- Robust communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with demonstrated understanding of the NMBA standards, relevant legislation, NSQHS Standards, organisational policies and quality and safety requirements.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, shift worker position, working up to24 hours per fortnight,commencing as soon as possible.





*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$102,439 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteri a :

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in the relevant practice setting.

Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the clinical area.

Membership with the relevant professional organisation (e.g.: Australian College of Nursing, Australian College of Midwives, ACORN, ACCCN).
