Nurse in Charge | Ophthalmic Day Surgery | Brisbane Inner East

Permanent Part-Time | $68–$72 per hour + super | 2 Days/Week, Growing

Carejobz are looking for an experienced Operating Theatre Nurse ready to step into a named leadership role from day one.

This role suits a senior scrub/scout nurse, theatre coordinator, or day surgery clinical nurse ready to step up, or an ANUM/NUM looking for a smaller, more hands-on leadership position. You’ll be named as the facility’s Nurse in Charge, lead preparation for licensing and accreditation, then move into clinical scrub/scout work once operating lists begin.

The Role

• Be named Nurse in Charge on the facility’s licence application, leading preparation for Queensland Health licensing and NSQHS accreditation.

• Undertake clinical scrub/scout work once operating lists commence, initially 1.5–2 days per week and growing with the schedule.

• Sit on the facility’s Medical Advisory and Infection Control Committees.

• Review and tailor existing clinical governance documentation to the facility rather than writing policy from scratch.

• Work with genuinely flexible rostering, well suited to nurses holding a second part time role elsewhere.

A Different Kind of Day Surgery

This purpose-built facility sits within a broader health-and-wellness precinct alongside physiotherapy, orthopaedic services and on-site gyms.

The aim is to give patients a connected wellness journey rather than a single clinical visit, supported by a workplace culture that values the same mindset.

The practice is also values-led.

Facility profits support a registered charity dedicated to eradicating curable and incurable blindness through gene and cellular therapy research.

Staff are involved directly and hear from the research side of the organisation, giving their clinical work a meaningful connection to something bigger.

About You

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

• Strong scrub theatre experience; scout experience is also valued.

• Day surgery, theatre coordination or perioperative experience. Ophthalmic experience is advantageous but not essential.

• Comfortable taking ownership of clinical governance and compliance documentation, or motivated to build this skill with support.

• Ready for a named leadership title and the responsibility that comes with it.

You will also need full Australian work rights to be considered.

What’s on Offer

• $68–$72 per hour plus super, negotiable based on experience.

• Milestone bonuses linked to licence grant and accreditation, with final structure to be confirmed.

• Paid setup work from appointment, approximately two days per week, before clinical lists commence.

• Genuine part-time flexibility—an ideal leadership opportunity alongside an existing part-time position.

• The chance to help build a purpose-built facility from the ground up.

• A values-led environment whose profits support a registered charity researching cures for blindness.
