About This Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded engineering consultancy based in Bunbury.

n

This is more than a traditional senior engineering position. The successful Principal Structural Engineer will take a leadership role within a small, established engineering team, working closely with the Managing Director and playing a key role in the continued growth of the business.

n

You will take the lead across a diverse range of structural engineering projects throughout the South West and wider WA, with responsibilities spanning design, inspections, reporting, project delivery and technical leadership.

Your work will include:

n

n
- Structural design and documentation across residential, commercial, industrial and government projects
n
- New structures, additions and alterations
n
- Structural assessments, inspections and remedial works
n
- Civil works including retaining walls, drainage and earthworks
n
- Temporary works design and certification
n
- Contract administration, QA and construction support
n
- Site inspections and responding to RFIs and technical queries
n
- Reviewing and checking structural documentation
n
- Working closely with the drafting team to deliver high-quality documentation
n
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
n
- Managing smaller engineering projects, including quoting and invoicing
n
- Liaising directly with clients, builders, architects and other stakeholders
n

Requirements

n

We are looking for an experienced structural engineer who is confident taking ownership of projects and providing technical leadership. Ideally, you will have:

n

n
- Extensive structural engineering/design experience
n
- A relevant Civil, Structural or Building Engineering qualification recognised by Engineers Australia
n
- MIEAust membership
n
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards including AS1170, AS3600, AS4100, AS1684 and AS1720
n
- Robust hands-on structural design experience
n
- Experience with SPACE GASS - highly desirable
n
- Experience with Inducta SLB or similar software is advantageous
n
- Experience across steel and reinforced concrete structures
n
- Strong report writing and technical communication skills
n
- Experience with structural inspections, assessments and remedial works
n
- Previous experience mentoring or leading junior engineers
n
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
n
- A valid Australian driver's licence
n
- A White Card
n
