STA Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (Supervising RPEQ) to join our Foundations Engineering team. This is an opportunity to take a senior technical role within an established residential engineering consultancy, providing RPEQ oversight, practical engineering solutions and capability development across the team.

About the role

n

You'll support the consistent and timely delivery of foundations engineering services through technical review and certification, complex design, project oversight, client support and supervision of engineers and inspectors.

n

This is not a narrow design-only role. You'll take accountability for engineering decisions and service outcomes, applying sound professional judgement to deliver safe, compliant and buildable solutions without unnecessary complexity.

Key responsibilities

- Provide RPEQ review, supervision, approval and certification for foundations engineering work
n
- Undertake and review foundation designs, calculations and performance verification
n
- Oversee projects to support safe, accurate, compliant and timely delivery
n
- Assess technical and project risks and determine practical, proportionate controls
n
- Provide clear and responsive technical advice to clients,



builders and internal teams
n
- Support complex queries, inspections and construction-stage issues
n
- Supervise and mentor engineers, designers, draftspersons and inspectors
n
- Contribute to technical standards, quality systems and process improvements
n
- Help reduce repeat rework, avoidable delays, at-fault amendments and customer complaints

What we're looking for

n

n
- Current RPEQ registration and Chartered status
n
- At least five years' demonstrated RPEQ signing or supervising experience
n
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
n
- Strong residential foundations experience, including footing and slab systems, reactive or difficult soil conditions and screw piling
n
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the NCC and legislative requirements
n
- Robust engineering judgement and the ability to develop practical, proportionate and buildable solutions
n
- Confidence dealing with builders, designers, architects, certifiers, developers and clients
n
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or training technical staff
n
- An accountable, responsive and collaborative approach, with a willingness to work within established quality systems and workflows
