About the Role
n
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker / Personal Care Worker to support a NDIS participant in Oak Park.
n
This is an opportunity for a calm, patient and empathetic support worker who understands that every person has different communication, sensory and emotional needs.
n
Some of your tasks will include:
n
n
- Supporting the participant with daily living activities and personal care
n
- Providing companionship and genuine emotional support
n
- Creating an environment where the participant feels protected, heard and respected
n
- Using trauma-informed and person-centered communication
n
- Being mindful of sensory needs and helping maintain a calm and sensory-appropriate environment
n
- Providing clear and reassuring preparation before appointments, outings or unfamiliar activities
n
- Supporting the participant to make their own decisions about food, routines, activities and supports
n
- Encouraging independence, choice and control rather than taking over
n
- Providing community access and transport where required
n
- Assisting with domestic tasks as needed
n
- Supporting the participant consistently and respectfully while maintaining professional boundaries
n
- Following the participant's individual support plan and agreed routines
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who is calm, compassionate, patient and emotionally aware, with the ability to build trust and establish a strong professional relationship with the participant. You will ideally have:
n
n
- Cert III or IV in Disability (required)
n
- Experience supporting people with complex support needs, psychosocial disability, neurodivergence or trauma backgrounds
n
- Medication trained (desirable)
n
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed care
n
- Understanding of professional boundaries within the support work scope
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- Working with Children Check
n
- CPR and First Aid certifications
n
- Your own reliable transport with comprehensive insurance and a Victorian Driver License
n
