VSL Australia is currently recruiting for a project based Full-Time Mechanical Grab Operator in Melbourne.

n

Working as part of the commercial team of a joint-venture on a ground engineering project in Melbourne, the Mechanical Grab operator shall play a key role in leading equipment maintenance, coordinating heavy geotechnical machinery (lifting, moving, and placing material), and ensuring site safety.

About The Role

n

We are currently seeking for 1 role, an experienced Mechanical GrabOperator to join our team in Melbourne. These roles are integral to major infrastructure projects, where you will play a crucial part in the development and execution of sophisticated construction methodologies.

Your role will see you:

n

n
- Safely operate mechanical grab equipment to lift, transfer, load and position materials in accordance with project requirements
n
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections to confirm the equipment is safe, operational and suitable for the planned work.
n




- Operating Mechanical Grab equipment with precision and safety.
n
- Collaborating with project teams to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
n
- Demonstrating a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making in office.
n
- Work closely with supervisors, off siders, riggers and ground personnel to coordinate safe and efficient operations.
n
- Assist with routine cleaning, basic maintenance and the secure storage of equipment and attachments.
n

Skills & Experience:

n

n
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil mechanical operator handling.
n
- Proven experience operating mechanical grab equipment.
n
- Strong knowledge of safe lifting and material handling practices.
n
- Ability to complete equipment inspections and identify mechanical faults.
n
- Excellent hand eye coordination and equipment control skills.
n
- Sound English language skills
n
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively
n
- Necessary certification / licenses for the position
n
- Proven Experience handling Mechanical machinery.
n
- Australian White Card, Drivers License.
n
