Job Description
Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Teacher in our Education Outdoors team. This is a full-time maximum term position, based at Scotch Oakburn College Penquite Campus but with duties and camp programs across northern Tasmania. As a Teacher – Education Outdoors, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and delivering engaging outdoor education programs that align with the curriculum and educational objectives
- Providing effective instruction in various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, rock climbing, and environmental studies
- Fostering a safe and inclusive learning setting for students while promoting teamwork, leadership, and personal development
- Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback to support their growth and skill development in outdoor education
- Collaborating with colleagues to integrate outdoor learning experiences into broader educational initiatives
- Maintaining equipment, resources, and facilities related to outdoor education activities
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations during all outdoor excursions and activities.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in delivering outdoor education programs
- Registered with the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board (or eligible to attain registration)
- Tertiary teaching qualification
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning in an outdoor setting
- Strong understanding of risk management and safety procedures in outdoor environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively engaging with students, staff, and parents
- Qualified in relevant outdoor education certifications such as First Aid and Wilderness First Responder
- Ability to plan and coordinate outdoor expeditions and camps
- Possess a passion for environmental sustainability and the natural world
- Experience in developing and implementing curriculum for outdoor education programs
