The role
Build your career in customer service while gaining hands‑on experience supporting our diverse community!
As a Trainee Customer Service Officer, you’ll combine structured learning and development with practical, on‑the‑job experience as part of Council’s Customer Service Team. You’ll gain experience assisting residents, local businesses and the wider community with a broad range of Council enquiries and requests through both telephone and face‑to‑face customer service.
This is a two‑year Temporary Full‑Time traineeship, commencing in February 2027, offering the chance to gain a recognised qualification while developing practical workplace skills and building a strong foundation for your career in customer service.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Deliver high‑quality, professional customer service across Council’s Call Centre and Customer Service Counter.
- Respond to customer enquiries, transactions and service requests accurately and efficiently.
- Provide information on Council services and refer or elevate enquiries to the appropriate teams when required.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with a diverse range of customers, including in challenging situations.
- Build effective relationships with Council teams to support positive customer outcomes.
- Participate in training and development to build knowledge of Council services, policies and procedures.

You will have
- Be a current Year 12 student, recent school leaver, or early career professional (within 2 years of graduation).
- Effective written and verbal Communication skills.
- Computer literacy skills
Previous experience in a customer service role is not essential but advantageous.
The salary range for this opportunity commences at$38,272(T3 at 17 years of age) or$44,746(T4 at 18 years or completed HSC) + 12% super.
