Job Description

Location: Hawthorn, VIC
Employment Type: Part-Time,32.5 hrs per week
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:15pm, 6.5hr shifts
Salary: $36.22 per hour + Superannuation (Level 2 Pay Point 1)

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Community Worker to join our Adult Community Services team in Hawthorn.

The Community Worker will support Autistic adults to increase independence, build life skills, participate in their community, develop social connections and achieve their individual goals through person-centred support.

Working within a community-based environment, you will assist participants to access meaningful activities, build confidence and capability, and enhance their quality of life through strengths-based support and inclusive practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Support participants to achieve individual goals and outcomes.
- Facilitate community participation, recreational activities and social inclusion opportunities.
- Assist participants to develop daily living, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Promote independence, wellbeing, self-advocacy and community engagement.




- Support participants to access community services, programs and activities.
- Implement person-centred support strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Monitor participant progress and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace for participants and staff.
- Ensure supports are delivered in accordance with NDIS requirements, organisational policies and best practice principles.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required

- Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Disability, Individual Support or a related field (completed or currently working towards highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience providing support services to adults with disability in community-based programs, supported accommodation, day programs or similar environments.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours and diverse support needs.
- Demonstrated ability to foster independence, social participation and skill development.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.




- Commitment to person-centred practice and inclusion.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
- Completion, or willingness to complete, the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
- Ability to provide an International Police Clearance if required.
