Job Description
Join a growing, entrepreneurial private-credit platform with a differentiated approach to real estate lending. The business provides flexible lending solutions across commercial property and offers a fast-paced environment with genuine exposure to deal execution, senior decision-makers and evolving private-credit products. The firm has been operating for over a decade and has grown materially, expanding its team domestically and internationally.
n
The Role:
n
This is an end-to-end underwriting role, partnering closely with Origination, senior credit leaders and legal stakeholders to assess lending opportunities, prepare approval materials and support deals from initial review through to completion.
n
The immediate focus is on non-bank commercial real estate lending, including first and second-mortgage opportunities. This particular team focuses on deals within the $1-10mio space. These deals often involve complex borrower structures, bespoke security packages, development consideration and nuanced valuation risk.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
- Assess commercial and residential real estate lending opportunities.
n
- Analyse borrower financials, valuations, QS reports, feasibility studies and financial models.
n
- Identify key credit risks and develop appropriate mitigants.
n
- Prepare credit papers, investment committee materials, scorecards, term sheets and offer documentation.
n
- Work with Origination on end-to-end deal assessment and structuring.
n
- Support legal documentation, due diligence, treasury/risk processes and underwriting process improvement.
n
- Contribute to property and debt-market research, investor materials and capital-raising initiatives.
n
n
Ideal profile:
n
You will have at least two years' experience in commercial real estate lending, private credit, banking or a related property-finance environment. Experience in a non-bank lender is well regarded, but the team is also open to high-potential candidates with strong analytical capability and the capacity to learn quickly.
n
You will bring:
n
n
- Strong financial-statement analysis, Excel and credit-writing skills.
n
- Experience assessing real estate, development or asset-backed lending risk.
n
- Ability to understand complex company structures, recourse arrangements and the broader capital stack.
n
- Sound judgement, commercial curiosity and comfort making decisions amid ambiguity.
n
- A high-output mindset: able to turn a complete opportunity into an approval-ready paper within one to two days, without compromising quality.
n
- Transparent communication and strong stakeholder management skills.
n
n
Why this role?
n
This business is a first-identifier and first-mover within the lower-mid-market segment for real estate lending. This provides an opportunity to build broad private-credit experience in a business that values commercial thinking, pace and ownership. You will gain meaningful exposure to senior decision-makers and a diverse range of lending products.
n
Potential pathways include:
n
n
- Progression into larger-ticket and more complex credit underwriting.
n
- Exposure to structured credit, construction lending and pre-development finance.
n
- Increasing involvement in Investment Committee submissions and transaction structuring.
n
- A future move into Origination for candidates interested in client-facing, commission-based dealmaking.
