Your next career opportunity
In this role, you will shape a new Game Design major within the Bachelor of Design.
You will lead studio teaching that connects interactive worlds with architecture, landscape, urbanism and interior design. You will grow a research or creative practice while mentoring diverse students in a collaborative, multidisciplinary faculty.
What you will deliver:
- Lead studio-based teaching in the Game Design major, focusing on Unreal Engine, game mechanics and level design.
- Design and coordinate an introductory Game Design subject that builds foundational skills in systems, interaction and player experience.
- Contribute to curriculum innovation, assessment design and continuous improvement of student-centred, inclusive game design pedagogy.
- Develop a research or creative practice profile in contemporary game design, interactive media and related design disciplines.
- Build industry and community partnerships, mentoring students towards professional practice through showcases, festivals,
playtesting and exhibitions.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Hold a PhD in design or related field, or equivalent professional and creative achievements.
- Demonstrate tertiary teaching experience in game design or related areas, with strong studio-based, student-centred practice.
- Bring a developing research or creative practice profile in contemporary game design, interactive media or game studies.
- Offer advanced Unreal Engine skills, including Blueprints visual scripting for prototyping, interaction, systems and player experience.
- Experience with C++ programming and familiarity with game engines beyond Unreal Engine would be highly regarded, particularly where this demonstrates an ability to transfer technical knowledge and development practices across platforms.
- Apply deep expertise in level design, spatial thinking, environmental storytelling, playtesting and iterative refinement processes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with strong commitment to inclusive, equitable game design education.
