Middle Road Furniture

Brisbane City

You’re not looking for an easier job. You might just be ready for a more human one.

Maybe you’re already a great EA.

You know how to anticipate, organise, solve problems and keep a busy Director moving. But perhaps you’re ready for more than working within layers of management, processes and approvals.

Maybe you want more trust, more variety and the opportunity to see the impact of your work.

At Middle Road Furniture, you’ll work directly with the Director and become a genuinely important part of how he operates.

You’ll be close to the decisions, trusted to use your judgement and given the autonomy to make things happen.

Not buried in the layers. Not one of many. Right at the centre of it.

Middle Road Furniture is a fast-growing furniture supply and installation business operating across Southeast Queensland and Victoria.

We are looking for an exceptional Executive Assistant to work closely with our Director.

This is far more than a traditional administrative EA role. We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, commercially minded, proactive and persistent - someone who takes ownership, follows things through and can be trusted to make sure the key details don’t get missed.

The role will provide a combination of executive support, business coordination and personal administration, with the opportunity to become a trusted and integral part of the business.

At its heart, the role is simple: Protect the Director’s time, keep the business moving, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

About Middle Road Furniture

Middle Road Furniture supplies complete furniture packages for investment properties, rooming accommodation and similar residential projects.

The business is growing rapidly across Southeast Queensland and Victoria, working closely with property developers, builders, advisers, property managers and investors.

We are a practical, entrepreneurial business. We move quickly, care deeply about our clients and are continually looking for better, more efficient ways to operate.

This role will work closely with the founder and have an unusual level of visibility across the business - including the decisions, priorities and opportunities that sit behind it.

The Role

The director’s strengths lie in building relationships, sales, business development, generating ideas and recognising opportunities that can help move the business forward.

As Middle Road Furniture has grown, more and more of his time has been pulled into the day-to-day administration and coordination that comes with running a growing business - following people up, managing emails, keeping on top of paperwork and carrying unfinished tasks in the back of his mind.

Your role is to change that.

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership. When the Director hands something to you, he should increasingly be able to let it go, knowing it is being handled and will be followed through to completion.

That doesn’t mean you will personally do every task. Often, your role will be to work out who is best placed to handle something, make sure they have everything they need, keep it moving, follow up when necessary and ensure the outcome is delivered.

Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who naturally thinks:

“Leave it with me. I’ll work it out.”

Someone who takes responsibility, sees what needs to happen next and doesn’t need to be constantly reminded to make it happen.

What This Role Is - and Isn’t

This is an Executive Assistant and right-hand role, working closely with the Director and becoming a trusted part of how the business operates day to day.

Your role will be to help coordinate the business, protect the founder’s time and attention, keep priorities moving and make sure important things don’t fall through the cracks. You will have significant visibility across the business, but you will not be responsible for the company P&L;, overall operational performance or management of the entire team.

What matters most is that you are someone who wants to become highly trusted,

understands how to make a founder’s life easier and takes genuine ownership of helping the business move forward.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing and protecting the Director’s calendar and priorities

Monitoring and triaging email, calls, messages and requests

Creating inbox rules and systems to remove unnecessary noise

Tracking important actions, deadlines and commitments

Following up employees, clients, advisers, suppliers and external stakeholders

Making sure delegated tasks do not quietly disappear

Preparing meetings, agendas, briefing notes and supporting information

Joining selected calls or meetings, capturing decisions and following up actions

Preparing matters for the Director’s approval rather than simply forwarding problems

Drafting correspondence and follow-up emails

Coordinating paperwork, documents, signatures and approvals

Redirecting work to the appropriate person within the business

Identifying gaps, delays or unclear ownership before they become problems

Coordinating routine sales administration so the Director can focus on important client relationships

Researching unfamiliar issues and presenting clear next steps

Helping turn the Director’s ideas and knowledge into completed documents, processes and projects

Managing selected personal administration, appointments, travel, bills, bookings and family logistics

Liaising confidently with accountants, clients, suppliers, employees and other professionals

Personal Support Is Part of the Role

This role is designed to reduce the total administrative load surrounding a busy business owner - not just the work sitting inside Middle Road Furniture.

You may assist with:

personal appointments

travel and accommodation

family trips

gifts and important dates

personal bills and paperwork

insurance and renewals

property administration

coordinating accountants and advisers

occasional personal research and errands

You must be comfortable moving between an important commercial matter and a mundane personal task without seeing it as beneath you.

Discretion and trust will be critical.
