If you’re an experienced public practice accountant who enjoys client work but could happily live without rigid policies and unnecessary hierarchy - this one is worth a look.

I’m working with a well-established, second-generation accounting firm that has been operating for more than 40 years. With two Partners and approximately 15 staff, they’ve built a stable, down-to-earth business with an incredibly loyal team - including employees who have been with the firm for 10, 20 and even 30 years.

That probably tells you more about the culture than any "great place to work" statement ever could.

The Role

They’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Business Services team.

You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients and have plenty of autonomy, while still having the support of the Partners and administration team when you need it.

The client base is genuinely varied - from medical professionals and SMEs through to hospitality, construction, transport and larger privately owned businesses.

There’s no bookkeeping including no hybrid accounting/bookkeeping expectation. You’ll be focused on quality business services and advisory work, including:

Financial statements and tax returns for SME's and HNW Family Groups

Tax planning and compliance

Direct client contact and relationship management

Working across Xero, XPM, FYI Docs and BGL

Preparing digital workpapers and maintaining predominantly paperless files

There is currently a one‑day‑per‑week WFH arrangement being trialled, but more importantly, they’re flexible around school events, appointments and family commitments.

Who will suit them?

You’ll ideally have 4 - 5+ years of Australian public practice experience and be comfortable working relatively autonomously across a portfolio of clients.

Just as importantly, they want someone who contributes to the culture.

You’ll be a good communicator, enjoy working as part of a team and be someone who brings a positive attitude into the office. They have a collaborative setting and want to protect it.
