Our client, Blue MGL Pty Ltd, is a Perth-based construction subcontractor specialising in steel fixing, reinforcement installation, formwork support and labour support services. Founded by experienced industry professionals, the company provides skilled construction services to major infrastructure, commercial and other construction projects across Perth and Western Australia. Blue MGL Pty Ltd delivers qualified reinforcement fixing, formwork support, supporting the delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects. The company works with builders, contractors and project teams to provide reliable and skilled labour and construction support across various project sites. The client is currently recruiting experienced Formwork Carpenters with a solid background in formwork carpentry and construction projects to work across various sites in Perth and Western Australia.
Minimum Requirements
- AQF Certificate III in a relevant trade, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in a relevant field. At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualifications.
- At least one year of full-time relevant experience in formwork carpentry or a closely related construction environment.
- Current construction industry White Card.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Execute quality formwork carpentry work in accordance with project plans, specifications, construction requirements and company standards.
- Read and interpret architectural,
structural and engineering drawings to determine dimensions, materials, quantities and construction methods.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other materials required for formwork construction.
- Construct, install and dismantle formwork and temporary structures used for concrete construction.
- Set out formwork accurately to required levels, dimensions, alignment and tolerances.
- Select appropriate materials and components for formwork construction based on project requirements, structural requirements, durability and reusability.
- Construct formwork for foundations, footings, slabs, walls, columns, beams and other concrete structures as required.
- Install and secure formwork to ensure it is adequately supported and capable of safely containing concrete during placement and curing.
- Check completed formwork for dimensions, levels, alignment, stability and compliance with plans and specifications before concrete placement.
- Use hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare basic sketches and measurements where required to assist with construction and formwork activities.
- Estimate material requirements and assist with ordering and organising materials required for assigned work.
- Inspect tools, equipment and work areas and report defects,
hazards or maintenance requirements.
- Work closely with steel fixers, concreters, labourers and other construction personnel to coordinate formwork activities with other stages of construction.
- Liaise professionally with supervisors, site personnel, contractors and other trades to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Ensure all formwork activities comply with relevant building requirements, workplace health and safety procedures and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area throughout construction activities.
- Adhere to all site-specific safety procedures, SWMS, PPE requirements and other workplace health and safety protocols.
Skills, Experience and Attributes
- Demonstrated experience in formwork carpentry and construction work.
- Ability to accurately read and work from construction, structural and engineering plans.
- Strong practical knowledge of formwork construction methods and carpentry techniques.
- Good understanding of construction site practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Willingness to work across various construction sites in Perth and surrounding areas. The role may involve working on different construction sites and adapting to changing project requirements. You will be expected to work efficiently under project timelines and maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety and professionalism.
