Join the VEC as an Advisor, Election Staffing and help deliver one of Victoria's largest workforce programs for the 2026 State Election. Working within a dynamic and fast-paced team, you will contribute to large-scale recruitment campaigns, workforce planning initiatives and staffing projects that support the successful delivery of election operations across the state.

- Fixed-term, full time roles (until 18 December 2026)
- VPS Grade 4.1 $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation
- Location: Plummer Street Precinct, Port Melbourne (primarily)
- Free staff shuttle service from Southern Cross Station to Port Melbourne

About this opportunity

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is now actively hiring for Advisors, Election Staffing to support the delivery of the 2026 Victorian State Election.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering workforce initiatives that support one of Victoria's largest and most complex staffing programs. Working within the Election Staffing team, you’ll contribute to large-scale recruitment campaigns, workforce planning projects, staffing strategy initiatives and operational readiness activities that help ensure elections are delivered successfully across the state.

We're looking for candidates who enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and driving projects from planning through to implementation. You'll be comfortable managing competing priorities, analysing workforce data, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing trusted advice in a fast-paced and highly operational environment.

Candidates with experience in workforce planning, recruitment, project delivery, HR operations, labour hire, large-scale workforce programs or government project environments will be well suited to this role.

A day in the life of an Advisors, Election Staffing

As an Advisor,



Election Staffing, you'll work across a range of strategic and operational workforce initiatives that support the recruitment, appointment and deployment of thousands of election staff across Victoria.

You may be leading components of major staffing projects, analysing workforce trends and performance data, developing new processes and procedures, coordinating recruitment campaigns, or partnering with stakeholders to improve workforce outcomes.

Responsibilities may include:

- Coordinating and delivering staffing projects and workforce initiatives within agreed timelines
- Supporting the design and implementation of large-scale recruitment and onboarding campaigns
- Analysing workforce data and preparing reports, insights and recommendations
- Developing and improving staffing processes, procedures and operational documentation
- Monitoring project milestones, risks and deliverables and recommending solutions to emerging issues
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to support workforce planning activities
- Supporting the enhancement and effective use of staffing systems, databases and digital tools
- Providing advice and recommendations on staffing operations, workforce planning and project delivery
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, compliance and operational effectiveness
- Supporting project reviews, evaluations and lessons‑learned activities following key election events

What we're looking for

To be succ essful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience coordinating or delivering projects in complex, fast-paced operational environments
- Strong workforce planning, recruitment, staffing operations or HR project experienceExcellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret and utilise workforce dataStrong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skillsExperience developing or improving policies,



procedures or operational processesHighly developed written and verbal communication skillsStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlinesA proactive and adaptable approach, with a focus on achieving outcomesConfidence using systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications, including ExcelA commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality stakeholder outcomes

Experience in high-volume workforce environments, election operations, recruitment, labour hire, project delivery or public sector settings will be highly regarded.

Working arrangements

These roles will initially operate under a hybrid working arrangement, with up to two days working from home each week.

As election activity increases, attendance requirements will change. From late October through to the election period, successful candidates will be expected to:

- Work full-time from the Plummer Street precinct in Port Melbourne
- Be available to work five days per week on site
- Participate in rostered day and evening shifts during peak election operations (from November 1 onwards)
- Be available during the weeks immediately before and after Election Day (Saturday 28 November)

Flexibility during the election period is essential.
