About the role

As a Senior Pharmacist, you will play a key role in leading the organisation, management and operation of your designated pharmacy area, delivering a comprehensive, high-level pharmacy service that makes a meaningful difference to patients and the wider healthcare team. Working with a high degree of professional autonomy, you will provide expert medicines information and therapeutic advice to patients, medical and nursing staff and other health professionals, while collaborating to support safe, effective and person-centred care. Your expertise, sound judgement and commitment to skilled standards will help foster a positive pharmacy environment and contribute to high-quality clinical outcomes across the hospital.

You will bring a robust focus on optimising the quality use of medicines, implementing practical strategies that support the best possible outcomes for patients while ensuring medicines are used safely, appropriately and cost-effectively. Working within hospital and divisional policies, procedures and professional standards, you will have the opportunity to influence practice, share your expertise and contribute to continuous improvement across pharmacy services. As the Senior Automation Pharmacist for CALHN, you will be the subject matter expert for all matters relating to the use and maintenance of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) and Anaesthetic Automated Dispensing Cabinets (AADCs). This includes:

- Act as the dedicated lead for all matters relating to the ADC and AADC systems across CALHN, including implementation, management and maintenance of these systems
- Providing support and training to all staff (pharmacy, nursing and medical) in relation to the use of ADC and AADC systems
- Reviewing and updating local policies and procedures related to the ADCs and AADCs
- Act as a point of contact for all staff in relation to process issues with the ADC and AADC systems




- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
- Act as the key pharmacy point of contact for operating theatre staff with queries relating to the use and storage of medications

About You

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Pharmacist who brings strong clinical expertise, leadership capability and a genuine commitment to delivering safe, high-quality pharmacy services. You will be a confident communicator and collaborative team member who can thrive in a complex hospital environment while driving continuous improvement and supporting the development of others.

- Qualified and professionally registered: Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, with current registration or eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, and extensive hospital pharmacy experience.
- Experienced leader: Demonstrated leadership, supervisory or management experience, with the ability to provide direction, supervise, educate and train professional and non-professional staff.
- Skilled and solutions-focused: Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Collaborative and improvement-focused: Strong multidisciplinary teamwork skills, with demonstrated ability to undertake research, analyse and interpret data, and lead the investigation, development and implementation of strategies that improve pharmacy service delivery. You will also bring comprehensive knowledge of relevant pharmacy practice standards and codes of practice.
- Adept with use of various information technology systems : Demonstrated skill with the use of basic IT systems such as Microsoft Excel to interpret and analyse data. You will also bring a solid interest and ability in learning to use new IT systems and a dedication towards developing the expertise required to use these systems in the improvement of medication safety and the quality use of medicines.
