Automation usually arrives in a finance team as a threat. Here it arrived as a question: once the machine enters the invoices, what should the person do instead? The answer came back from the controls side, and it was not "less".

Behind it stands the kind of business that does not need to introduce itself. A global parent, an Australian arm that has been quietly compounding here for decades and a balance sheet with nothing to prove. The sums moving through this office are large, the entity structure is genuinely complex and the control environment is held to a standard set offshore and audited properly. What it is not is loud. No growth story being performed, no restructure to survive, no corporate theatre. Just a small team, high calibre people and the time to learn the business properly while being treated as an adult. If you want the credibility of a global corporate without the churn and politics that usually come with it, the Specialist‑Finance seat is where it starts.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Finance Officer (Specialist‑Finance) role owns the transactional heartbeat of the finance function. The disbursements, the receipts, the reconciliations and the controls that keep a multi‑entity, joint venture business moving. Volumes are meaningful, the dollar values are large and the control setting is taken seriously, so precision counts for more here than it does in most seats of this kind.

Here is the part most ads leave out. This is not an accounting role, and it is not being grown into one. Accounts payable is around a quarter of it. The rest is bank reconciliations, joint venture cash calls, electronic funds transfers, corporate card and reimbursement administration, master data controls and audit support. Month end journals and general ledger reconciliations sit here too, but they are a slice of the week rather than the point of the job. That balance is deliberate. The role was reshaped this year so that the person doing it is the person who actually wanted it.

The second half of the job is what makes it unusual. The business is part way through automating invoice processing through an OCR reader, with go live planned for around March. You would run the process by hand first and then help move it across. The work shifts progressively from doing to monitoring, coordinating through a dashboard and holding the governance tight around it. Very few transactional seats let you see a process from both sides of an automation.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Processing and reviewing all payments and receipts across the company and its subsidiaries, including manual cash disbursements and cash receipts

Running regular bank reconciliations in SAP so every cash transaction is accounted for accurately and on time

Coordinating the necessary approvals and processing joint venture cash call requirements

Preparing electronic funds transfers for the authorised approvers, with the supporting information attached

Liaising with other divisions so supplier purchase orders are approved and paid within credit terms, and maintaining the supplier database in SAP

Administering the corporate card, cab and rideshare accounts, and processing staff reimbursements in line with company policy

Supporting the preparation of cash forecasts and keeping the bank contacts needed to run the payables function

Performing assigned month end tasks including journals, and preparing general ledger reconciliations for manager review

Examining the monthly master data change forms and assessing compliance with the SAP related internal controls

Providing administrative support to the Financial Reporting team and assisting with auditor queries

About You

You are the kind of Senior Finance Officer (Specialist‑Finance) professional who notices that something is fourteen dollars out and cannot leave it alone. You take real pride in a clean ledger, a reconciliation that ties first time and a supplier base that trusts you, and you would rather be trusted with the whole payment cycle than hold a fragment of it in a large team. You are not looking for a route into financial accounting, because you already like the work you are good at. You are curious about the automation rather than unsettled by it. You are available now or very soon, and a fixed term commitment suits where you are.

Skills & Experience

The Specialist‑Finance candidate who does well here will bring most of the following:

At least two years in accounts payable and daily cash operations inside a corporate environment

Confidence across high volume payments, bank reconciliations and electronic funds transfers

Experience with a major ERP, with SAP well regarded

A genuine feel for internal controls and why the process discipline exists

Intermediate Excel, and the composure to deal courteously with stakeholders at every level

A degree in accounting is well regarded, though your track record matters more here

What's on Offer

Nine months on the client's own payroll with full leave entitlements rather than an agency contract, and a genuine likelihood of extension or conversion for the right person

A seat at an automation go live, and a hand in deciding what the Specialist‑Finance role becomes on the other side of it

Direct work with the managers running the SAP and invoice automation project rather than reporting into it from a distance

A seat the business has been explicit it will not remove, because segregation of duties and the control framework require it

A competitive package aligned to the experience you bring
