About the role

The Revenue Officer is accountable to the Supervisor, Hospital Billing or Supervisor, Private Practice and is responsible for the effective and efficient processing of hospital billing and private practice administration functions, including the generation of invoices and claims for Medicare, health funds and other third parties.



The Revenue Officer is also responsible for the collection and receipting of cash and debtor payments, monitoring and following up outstanding debtor balances, processing approved debt waivers and write-offs, and processing associated doctor and hospital disbursements and fund transfers

Key duties of the role

- Accurate and timely hospital billing, including invoicing, claims processing, stakeholder liaison, resolving payment rejections, and preparing reports.
- Maintaining Accounts Receivable functions, including processing receipts and adjustments, following up outstanding patient debts, supporting revenue recovery, and preparing required reports.
- Accurate receipting and preparation of revenue for banking, including debt follow-up and preparation of supporting evidence for the Debt Management Team.
- Undertake and learn, assist and fill in for other Hospital Revenue Services positions as requested the site Supervisor.

Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrated accurate and efficient data entry and computer skills.
- Successful record in identifying customer needs, developing service strategies and providing quality customer service.
- Experience in use of computer applications and computerised accounting and billing systems.
- Previous experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably within a hospital, healthcare or medical environment.
