Annabel's Wine Bar
Melbourne
Annabel’s is looking for an experienced Assistant Venue Manager to join our team in Caulfield South.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves hospitality, knows their way around a great wine list, and wants to take on real responsibility within a growing venue.
This isn’t just a supervisory role. You’ll work closely with our Venue Manager across service, staff development, wine and the day-to-day running of the bar. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to how Annabel’s continues to develop as a venue.
About Annabel’s
Annabel’s is a neighbourhood wine bar set within a beautifully restored 150-year-old heritage hotel in the heart of Caulfield South.
We’ve created a venue that feels polished without being stuffy. The focus is on great wine, seasonal food, local producers and warm, knowledgeable service that feels natural rather than scripted.
Wine sits at the heart of Annabel’s, with a 200+ bottle list and more than 25 rotating wines by the glass , giving the team plenty to taste, learn about and share with guests.
The Role
Working alongside our Venue Manager, you’ll play a key role in running the venue and maintaining the standard of service we want Annabel’s to be known for.
You’ll be involved in:
Leading service and supporting the team on the floor
Helping manage the day-to-day operation of the venue
Taking ownership of the venue when the Venue Manager isn’t on site
Guiding guests through our wine list in a relaxed and approachable way
Recommending wines and food pairings based on what guests enjoy
Supporting staff training and wine education
Maintaining service, presentation and wine standards
Contributing ideas to our wine offering, tastings and events
Working with the Venue Manager as the wine list and by-the-glass selection continue to evolve
Helping build a strong team culture and a venue locals want to return to
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
Experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor or similar senior hospitality role
Experience within a quality wine bar, restaurant or comparable venue
Strong wine knowledge and a genuine interest in continuing to learn
WSET, CMS or similar wine qualifications are highly regarded, but not essential
Confidence leading a team during busy services
A warm, personable approach and strong guest focus
The ability to talk about wine without making it feel complicated or pretentious
Solid communication and organisational skills
The confidence to make decisions and take responsibility during service
You’ll need to be available across our Wednesday to Sunday roster , including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
What You’ll Get
A key role in a new venue with the chance to genuinely influence how it develops
Exposure to an evolving 200+ bottle wine list and 25+ wines by the glass
The opportunity to contribute to the wine program, tastings and venue events
Ongoing wine education, tastings and product knowledge
A roster built around a venue that is closed Monday and Tuesday
Support from an experienced, hands‑on management team
The opportunity to build your management experience and take on greater responsibility as the venue develops
Competitive salary package
Staff meals and staff discounts
Interested?
If you’re serious about hospitality, love wine and want a role where you can have a real impact on a venue, we’d like to hear from you.
