M&B Sales
Western Australia
M&B; Sales is looking for a capable, hands‑on Warehouse & Distribution Operations 2IC to join our Bayswater operation.
This is a key operational leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the action, leading people, solving problems and taking genuine ownership of outcomes.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll help lead the day‑to‑day performance of Bayswater Operations across warehouse, yard, despatch, transport coordination and inventory movement.
We’re not looking for someone who simply maintains the status quo. We want an operational leader who can see what needs to be done, bring people with them and help us continually improve the way we operate.
About M&B;
M&B; Sales is a well‑established Western Australian timber, building materials and hardware business servicing the residential and commercial construction industry across metropolitan and regional WA.
Our Bayswater site is a significant part of our operation, servicing customers across the Perth metropolitan area through to Mandurah while also supporting our broader branch network.
As our business continues to grow, strong operational leadership, accountability and execution are critical to our success.
The Role
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our people, resources and workflows are aligned to deliver safely, efficiently and consistently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading daily warehouse, yard and despatch operations
- Coordinating labour and resources against operational priorities
- Supporting transport and delivery planning
- Driving DIFOT and customer service performance
- Maintaining strong inventory and stock‑location discipline
- Ensuring orders leave site complete, accurate and in good condition
- Leading safety expectations and safe work practices
- Coaching and developing operational team members
- Holding people accountable for performance and standards
- Monitoring labour utilisation, overtime and operational productivity
- Investigating operational failures and identifying root causes
- Reducing rework, damage, incorrect deliveries and avoidable costs
- Driving practical continuous improvement
- Stepping into operational leadership when the Operations Manager is unavailable
What Success Looks Like
Our customer promise is simple:
On Site. On Time. In A1 Condition.
Your role is to help ensure our operation consistently delivers against it.
That means being visible within the operation, understanding what’s happening on the floor and acting before problems become customer problems.
You’ll use operational data, observation and feedback to understand where performance can improve and work with the team to make those improvements stick.
About You
You’ll ideally have experience within warehousing, logistics, distribution, transport, timber/building materials, construction supply or another rapid‑paced operational environment.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Has demonstrated experience leading operational teams
- Leads from the floor and maintains a visible presence
- Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution
- Can organise people and resources around changing priorities
- Is comfortable holding people accountable
- Understands that safety is a leadership responsibility
- Thinks commercially about labour, transport,
waste and productivity
- Can identify root causes rather than repeatedly treating symptoms
- Communicates effectively across operational and commercial teams
- Uses systems and data to support decision‑making
- Looks for better ways of working
- Has a genuine growth mindset and wants to continue developing as an operational leader
Experience within timber, hardware or building materials would be advantageous, but leadership capability, operational discipline and attitude are equally important to us.
Why Join M&B;?
This is an opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role within a growing WA business.
We’ll give you:
- Genuine responsibility and operational ownership
- Direct exposure to operational decision‑making
- The opportunity to influence how the Bayswater operation performs
- Broad exposure across warehouse, transport, inventory, safety and people leadership
- The ability to drive meaningful operational improvements
- Support to continue developing your leadership and operational capability
- Opportunity to build a long‑term career within M&B;
