About the Role
Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll join a small, supportive team maintaining a modern fleet of underground drill rigs across Tasmania's Northwest and West Coast.
The role is split approximately 50% workshop and 50% field service. You'll complete planned maintenance, repairs and rebuilds in the Somerset workshop, alongside servicing, breakdown support and commissioning work at customer mine sites.
You'll work exclusively on underground drills, with a take-home service ute provided for work use. Travel and accommodation are also covered when working away.

Duties
- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on underground drill rigs
- Diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults
- Attending breakdowns at customer mine sites
- Completing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs
- Component change-outs and machine rebuilds
- New drill commissioning
- Warranty inspections and equipment audits
- Workshop and site-based repairs across Tasmania
Skills & Experience
- Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant Fitter
- Previous experience maintaining underground or surface drill rigs
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding skills
- Experience with mining or heavy mobile plant equipment
- Ability to work confidently across workshop and field environments
- Current driver's licence
- Strong safety focus and attention to detail
Underground drill experience will be highly regarded. However, fitters with relevant drill, mining or heavy mobile plant experience and strong hydraulic knowledge are also encouraged to apply.
