M & J Mitchell Pty Ltd t/a Mitchell's Livestock Transport is seeking for experienced Diesel Motor Mechanics (Heavy Diesel Mechanic) to join our maintenance team. The role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our heavy vehicle fleet used in livestock transport operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Service, maintain, and repair heavy diesel trucks and trailers in the fleet
n
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and engine faults (including Volvo and Cummins engines)
n
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and downtime
n
- Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, and safety issues
n
- Carry out engine repairs, component replacements, and system adjustments
n




- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs as requiredUse diagnostic tools and technical manuals to resolve faults efficiently
n
- Complete all maintenance records and job reports accurately
n
- Maintain a safe and compliant workshop setting at all times
n

Skills & Experience

n

n
- Minimum 3 years' proven experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic / Heavy Diesel Mechanic
n
- Experience working on heavy vehicles in transport, logistics, or similar environment
n
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
n
- Experience with Volvo and Cummins engines highly regarded
n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
n
- Good communication and time management skills
n
- Relevant trade qualification in related field
