Build and lead KJ's first dedicated HR function in a complex, Martu-led organisation.
A hands-on senior HR role with genuine organisational influence.
The opportunity
Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) is looking for an experienced HR generalist who wants the opportunity to build something, not simply inherit it.
As our current Human Resources Manager, you will establish and lead KJ's internal HR function and become a trusted adviser to managers and senior leaders.
Your first mandate is clear: strengthen the fundamentals.
That includes recruitment and onboarding, employee records, contracts, Award coverage and classifications, employment conditions, HR policies and systems, and practical support to managers on employee matters.
Then the opportunity gets bigger.
As those foundations strengthen, you will increasingly contribute to workforce planning, performance and development, manager capability, retention, workforce reporting and KJ's longer-term employment framework.
About KJ
KJ is a Martu organisation supporting Martu people to maintain culture, look after Country, strengthen communities and create opportunities for future generations.
We deliver cultural, environmental, family and social programs across remote Martu communities, the Martu determination and Newman.
Our workforce operates across office, community and field environments, which means good HR systems at KJ need to be both professionally robust and workable in the real world.
What you'll bring
You may already be an HR Manager or HR Business Partner, or an experienced Senior HR Adviser ready to take ownership of a function.
We are looking for:
sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Modern Awards;
experience with employee relations and performance matters;
confidence interpreting employment conditions, classifications and remuneration;
experience improving HR systems, policies and processes;
the ability to advise and coach managers; and
sound judgement and strong relationship-building skills.
Experience with the SCHADS Award, Aboriginal or community organisations, not-for-profits, remote services or geographically dispersed workforces would be highly regarded.
Why KJ?
This is a chance to build an HR function with genuine organisational reach.
You'll work directly with senior leaders and managers, see the impact of the systems you introduce and help shape how KJ employs and supports its workforce into the future.
KJ offers a salary of $120,000–$140,000 plus superannuation, generous salary packaging, RDOs, professional development support and accommodation for a Newman-based appointment.
Newman is preferred, although strong Perth-based applicants will be considered. Regular travel to Newman and remote Martu communities is required.
