This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Stores or Logistics Team Leader to take ownership of inventory, procurement and warehouse operations within a growing manufacturing business. The role will suit someone who thrives on operational detail, enjoys leading a team on the floor, and can be trusted to keep production running through disciplined stock control, supplier management and SAP system integrity.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Production Planner, this Stores / Logistics Team Leader will take ownership of warehouse, inventory and procurement operations, ensuring uninterrupted production while minimising cost, waste and working capital. You will be accountable for inventory accuracy, SAP S/4HANA data integrity and supplier performance, working closely with production, quality, maintenance and finance teams to keep materials flowing where and when they're needed.

This is a highly practical, floor-facing leadership role. You will lead and coach a small stores and logistics team, drive stocktake discipline, resolve variances, and build system capability across the group. Alongside day-to-day inventory control, you will play an active role in supplier negotiation, freight and cost optimisation, and JIT planning that keeps production uninterrupted. It's an opportunity to bring structure, accountability and continuous improvement to a busy logistics function that sits at the heart of the business.

Responsibilities

- Own inventory accuracy across all materials, targeting 98% or higher.
- Lead stocktakes end-to-end, including variance investigation and resolution.

- Ensure all inventory transactions are recorded accurately and on time in SAP S/4HANA.
- Create and maintain SAP codes for production and stores/logistics purposes.
- Drive system discipline, reporting accuracy and continuous improvement in SAP usage.
- Minimise excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock through better planning and forecasting.
- Ensure just-in-time material availability to support uninterrupted production.
- Align closely with production, finance and procurement to improve planning accuracy.
- Manage truck bookings, scheduling and packing schedules.
- Source, negotiate and secure best-value pricing and supply agreements.
- Benchmark suppliers continuously and drive down material and freight costs.
- Monitor and improve supplier performance against agreed KPIs.
- Lead, coach and hold the warehouse team accountable to performance standards.
- Build team capability in SAP, inventory control and operational excellence.
- Take ownership of WHS obligations, including review of the risk register and action plan.

Candidate Profile

You are an experienced Stores, Warehouse or Logistics Team Leader with proven hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA - this is essential, not simply desirable. You have a strong background in inventory control, stocktake management and variance analysis,

and you bring genuine ownership to system accuracy and process discipline rather than treating it as an administrative afterthought.

You are commercially minded, with a track record of supplier negotiation and cost reduction across materials and freight. You know how to balance JIT planning with the realities of a live production environment, and you're comfortable working closely with production, finance and procurement stakeholders to keep priorities aligned. A Diploma in Supply Chain Operations would be well regarded but is not essential if your practical experience speaks for itself.

Most importantly, you are a capable people leader who can coach and hold a small team accountable to clear performance standards, while staying close enough to the operation to solve problems as they arise. You communicate clearly and directly, organise and prioritise competing demands with ease, and take real ownership of safety, quality and continuous improvement in everything you do.

This is a growing manufacturing business with a strong operational focus and a culture that values ownership, accountability and continuous improvement. The workplace is hands‑on and results‑driven, offering the successful candidate genuine responsibility for a function that is critical to keeping production moving.

Lead with purpose - own inventory, SAP and supplier performance end-to-end
Make a visible impact - your decisions directly affect production continuity and cost
Grow your capability - build team and system maturity in a business that’s scaling
