A private Brisbane family is seeking an experienced Nanny / House Manager to take on a long-established full-time role. The position becomes available in November following the departure of the existing nanny who has held it for ten years and is leaving to start her own family. A four-week paid handover is provided.
This is a senior household position combining primary childcare with full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home. It will suit an experienced professional seeking a stable, long-term role with a family that values continuity.
About the family
A family of five on Brisbane's north side, with three children aged 3, 9 and 11 and one dog. Both parents run their own businesses and work full days, so the household depends on capable, autonomous management.
Key responsibilities
School and daycare drop-offs and pickups. From 2027 this involves three separate locations - high school, primary school and daycare
Breakfasts, evening meals, homework support, bath and bedtime routines
Transport to and from extra-curricular activities
Coordinating school requirements, uniforms and equipment
Supporting each child's routine and independence appropriate to their age
Household management
Daily reset of kitchen and living areas to a high standard
Laundry - a substantial and ongoing part of this role
Grocery shopping, weekly meal planning, fridge and pantry management
Linen, general organisation and household errands
Coordinating tradespeople, maintenance and repairs
Fortnightly cleaners attend for deep cleaning
General
Occasional errands supporting the family's businesses
Absolute discretion regarding all family, household and business matters
Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 6:00pm
Permanent full-time, employed with superannuation and paid leave.
School holidays
The family works through most school holidays,
so the role continues with adjusted duties rather than closing down. Some holiday periods involve accompanying the children to the family's Sunshine Coast property for the week while the parents work in Brisbane. These weeks are paid and involve sole charge and overnight stays. Applicants should be satisfied this is workable for them before applying.
Remuneration and perks
$90 000 paid with superannuation and paid leave (negotiable)
A vehicle is provided for school runs and household errands - no use of your own car, no fuel costs
All meals provided on working days
Four weeks' annual leave [plus - specify the additional entitlement]
Four-week paid handover with the outgoing Nanny / House Manager
Paid Sunshine Coast weeks
A long-term position with a family whose previous appointment lasted ten years
About you
The successful candidate will bring:
Substantial experience in nanny, household management or comparable private household roles
Consistently high energy and warmth - this is a busy, active household and sustained enthusiasm is the single most important attribute
Genuine pride in maintaining an organised, well-presented home
Confidence managing three children of markedly different ages
Strong organisational judgement and the ability to work without supervision
A safe, confident driver with an unblemished record
Complete discretion and professionalism
If the phrase "a real-life Mary Poppins" reads to you as a job description rather than a cliché, we would like to hear from you.
Requirements
Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) [confirm]
Open Queensland driver's licence with a clean record
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Verifiable references from previous long-term household positions
