Description
We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Risk Specialist, you'll be part of our Business Risk Management team, the Line 1 Risk centre of excellence responsible for enabling effective risk management across Australian Retirement Trust. You'll support key transformation and change initiatives, ensuring risk is embedded throughout planning and delivery while helping project teams identify, assess, and manage potential risks.
Working closely with project teams, transformation leaders, and risk stakeholders, you'll provide practical guidance on risk management, governance, controls, and reporting. You'll also contribute to governance forums, facilitate risk workshops, and help develop risk insights that support informed decision-making across the business. This is an opportunity for you to make a tangible impact by fostering a strong risk culture, enabling successful business outcomes, and supporting the delivery of initiatives that benefit millions of members.
This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
Responsibilities
Day to day, you'll:
• Support the integration of effective risk management into the planning and delivery of key change initiatives.
• Conduct and facilitate risk assessments to identify, analyse, and address potential risks within projects.
• Maintain and provide guidance on key risk artefacts, including delivery risk registers, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
• Facilitate risk workshops and engage relevant Line 1 Risk stakeholders to support project outcomes.
• Participate in governance forums and collaborate with stakeholders across risk, transformation, and business teams.
• Provide practical advice to project sponsors and leaders on risk implications and control effectiveness.
• Assist in the preparation of risk reporting and insights for executives, committees, and governance bodies.
• Deliver risk-in-change education and guidance to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Partner with Line 2 and Line 3 functions to support alignment with enterprise risk frameworks and regulatory expectations.
• Contribute to a culture of courage, empathy, and excellence through your work and stakeholder interactions.
Qualifications
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
• You have experience in a Line 1 risk management role, ideally supporting transformation, project delivery, or change environments.
• Your understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and controls enables you to provide practical guidance and support.
• You'll bring robust stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence across complex organisational environments.
• You're experienced in risk reporting, governance processes, and risk monitoring activities.
• You can work independently, take initiative, and remain effective in periods of ambiguity.
• Your knowledge of change management, project governance, and business transformation principles supports successful delivery outcomes.
• You'll be able to communicate complex concepts clearly and tailor your message for different audiences.
• You're ideally tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline.
• You may have exposure to data-driven risk analysis, reporting tools, or formal project and change management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or PMP.
