About the role

Whitsunday Anglican School is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Faculty – Visual Arts to provide academic and professional leadership across the School.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational educator and curriculum leader to lead the development and delivery of high-quality Visual Arts programs, foster excellence in teaching and learning, and support the professional growth of faculty staff.

The Head of Faculty will oversee curriculum planning, assessment and resources across Years 7–12, ensuring alignment with Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements. The role will also provide leadership, mentoring and support to faculty staff and contribute to the School’s strategic vision, educational philosophy and broader Curriculum Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

- Leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of Visual Arts curriculum across Years 7–12.
- Providing curriculum and pedagogical leadership and promoting contemporary teaching and learning practices.
- Leading the development, review and moderation of assessment in accordance with Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements.
- Supporting and mentoring faculty staff through professional development, collaboration, observation and performance processes.




- Fostering a positive faculty culture focused on academic excellence, innovation and student achievement.
- Monitoring student progress and using data to inform teaching and learning.
- Overseeing faculty resources, budgets, curriculum documentation and operational requirements.
- Supporting staff induction and establishing clear expectations for teaching, assessment and communication.
- Promoting Visual Arts within the School and wider community through exhibitions, competitions, events and enrichment opportunities.
- Leading the Visual Arts component of Splendour in the Arts, including planning, preparation and coordination.
- Contributing to whole-School curriculum initiatives and the Curriculum Leadership Team.
- Supporting the School's Anglican ethos, values, wellbeing and commitment to the development of the whole student.

Candidate Profile

- Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent with a relevant teaching area
- Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and pedagogical leadership
- Proven ability to lead a team effectively and collaboratively
- Experience teaching at senior secondary level (Years 11 and 12)
- Strong understanding of contemporary teaching and learning strategies, including digital pedagogy
