A First Nations Career Pathway with Veolia | Commencing 9 November 2026
Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person looking to build your skills, gain hands-on experience and explore a career with Veolia?
Veolia's Future Forward Program is a 5-week pre-employment program commencing Monday 9 November 2026 in Melbourne/Naarm, combining vocational training, hands-on learning, cultural connection, mentoring and workplace experience to help First Nations people develop skills and explore employment opportunities.
This program has the aim of increasing the employment of First Nations persons. It is a special measure intended to achieve equality under Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
What Can You Expect?
The first two weeks include:
- Roar 'N' Snore Cultural Overnight Camp at Melbourne Zoo
- Connection to Country Yarning Circle, cultural activities and Mentor Yarning Circle
- Hampton Park Resource Recovery Park and Veolia Waste, Water and Energy operations
- "A Day in the Life" experiences across Veolia roles
- Essential Readiness sessions covering Veolia's purpose, values and Reconciliation Action Plan
- Networking with Veolia, MEGT, The King's Trust and Bullroarers Australia
- Achieve Framework Workshop, First Nations mentor connections, cohort connection and team-building
Participants then complete three weeks of hands-on workplace learning in their chosen career area alongside experienced Veolia professionals.
Explore Your Career Pathway
Subject to interests, skills and suitability, pathways may include:
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology - Cohuna
Exposure to heavy vehicle servicing and repairs, diagnosing mechanical issues, hand and power tools, preventative maintenance and workshop safety.
⚙️ Certificate III in Engineering - Cohuna
Exposure to fabrication and welding, technical drawings,
cutting and fitting materials, hand and power tools, workshop safety, and equipment maintenance.
Certificate III in Water Industry Operations - Echuca
Exposure to water and wastewater operations, water quality sampling and testing, monitoring and maintaining systems, environmental procedures and workplace health and safety.
Certificate III in Plant Operations - Patho
Develop skills in operating mobile plant and equipment, pre-start checks, machinery safety, basic maintenance and environmental procedures.
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are:
- Motivated, reliable and eager to learn
- Interested in a long term career with Veolia and hands-on work
- Open to new experiences and challenges
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Safety-conscious and willing to develop new skills
- Keen to gain workplace experience
No previous experience is required.

Location: Melbourne/Naarm and various Veolia sites across Victoria
Duration: 5 weeks
Eligibility: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
