About the Role
n
Due to strong growth and expanding project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer, Protection Systems to join our high-performance team. You will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, fault finding, and maintenance of high-voltage and protection systems across a variety of sites. This role suits a technically strong professional who is safety-focused and enjoys working in live and critical environments.

Work closely with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure protection systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable standards.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Commissioning, testing and maintenance of HV protection systems and schemes, including experience with IEC 61850 and GOOSE communications.
n
- Testing and commissioning of HV substations, including both secondary systems and primary plant.
n
- Commissioning and maintenance of HV and LV plant and assets.
n
- Testing and commissioning of power generation systems and power transformers.
n
- Onsite protection relay testing, protection studies, Autocad drawings, arc flash studies, earthing studies, HV concept designs, load flow calculations and detailed technical reports.
n
- Providing technical leadership,
mentoring and training to technicians.
n
- Prepare commissioning and testing documentation, protection test plans, and detailed technical reports at project completion.
n

About You
n
To succeed in the role, you will bring strong technical capability, proven leadership and a commitment to safety and quality.
n
n
- Minimum five years' experience in high-voltage electrical environments.
n
- Proven experience using the Omicron and Doble suite of equipment for secondary system testing.
n
- Strong understanding of Australian standards, legislation and policies.
n
- Demonstrated ability to deliver works in line with project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
n
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
n
- Engineering Degree or Diploma in Power Systems. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) well regarded.
n
- HV Switching authorisation well regarded.
n
- Experience with IEC 61850 and GOOSE messaging, including use of IED Scout
n
- Power station and substation experience.
n
- Commissioning and maintenance of HV and LV plant and assets.
n
- Testing and commissioning of power generation systems and transformers.
n
- Technical supervision experience, mentoring and training of technicians.
n
