We are currently partnering with the WA Country Health Service to recruit a Consultant Intensivist to join the team at Geraldton Regional Hospital. This is a great opportunity to step into a brand-new ICU service and play a key role in shaping critical care delivery in a growing regional centre.

The Opportunity

This role offers more than a standard consultant position—it's a chance to build, influence, and lead within a newly developed critical care environment.

- Work within a majorly redeveloped health campus (approx. $190M investment)
n
- Join at the launch phase of a new 8-bed ICU and HDU (mid-2026 opening)
n
- Be instrumental in designing models of care, governance, and service delivery
n
- Collaborate closely with ED, inpatient teams, and regional retrieval pathways
n
- Robust focus on leadership, mentorship, and service development
n

About The Hospital
n
Geraldton Regional Hospital is a key regional referral centre within WA's Midwest:
n
n
- Approximately 100+ bed regional hospital (expanding with redevelopment)
n
- Functions as a regional hub (Tier 2 capability) supporting surrounding communities
n
- Services include Emergency, General Medicine, Surgery, Mental Health, and now expanding Critical Care
n
- New infrastructure includes ICU, ED upgrades, and inpatient facilities
n
- Strong integration with regional and tertiary referral networks

The ICU will support a broad case mix,
offering genuine clinical variety not often seen in metro units.

Salary & Benefits
n
n
- Total package: approx. $412,000 – $523,000+ p.a. (incl. 12% super + PD allowance, dependent on experience)
n
- Additional salary banding noted from $333,000 – $432,000 base ranges depending on contract structure
n
- 4 weeks annual leave + 3 weeks PD leave
n

- Strong clinical leadership exposure (not typically available in metro roles)

Requirements
n
n
- Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent)
n
- Eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
n
- Significant experience in ICU settings within comparable healthcare systems
n
- Ability to contribute to clinical leadership, governance, and teaching
n
