Our client is a highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering and advisory consultancy with an established national footprint and a solid presence in the Hunter region.

Working across major infrastructure, government and complex project environments, the organisation partners with clients to deliver projects that have a genuine impact on communities and the regions in which they operate.

With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced Senior Communications & Community Engagement Consultant to join their Newcastle team on a permanent basis.

About the Role

This is a senior, client-facing opportunity that will see you working across a portfolio of projects throughout the Hunter and broader NSW market.

Working closely with clients, project teams and key stakeholders, you will provide strategic communications and engagement advice while also supporting the delivery of high-quality engagement activities and communications.

You will work across projects from planning and strategy through to implementation, helping clients navigate complex stakeholder and community environments and build meaningful relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing and implementing communications, stakeholder and community engagement strategies and plans




- Providing considered communications and engagement advice to clients and project teams
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with community members, government, industry and other key stakeholders
- Planning and facilitating community and stakeholder consultation activities
- Identifying and managing stakeholder issues, risks and opportunities
- Developing clear and engaging communications across a range of channels and audiences
- Translating technical or complex project information into accessible and meaningful communications
- Managing project reporting and supporting budget and programme requirements
- Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teams to achieve strong project and community outcomes
- Contributing to the ongoing development of client relationships and project opportunities

About You

You will be an experienced communications and engagement professional who is comfortable working directly with clients, managing multiple stakeholders and providing advice within complex project environments.

You will ideally bring:

- Demonstrated experience across communications, stakeholder engagement and/or community engagement
- Experience working across infrastructure, government, construction, resources, engineering or other major project environments




- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Experience developing and delivering communications and engagement strategies
- Robust stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and providing practical, considered advice
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- A collaborative and adaptable approach
- IAP2 qualifications or accreditation will be highly regarded
