About the role
Potentia SL Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Hospitality CFO to join our team on a full-time basis in Morningside, QLD 4170. This is a strategic leadership position where you will oversee all financial operations and provide crucial financial direction to drive the success of our hospitality business. As CFO, you will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, reporting, and governance, ensuring the organisation operates efficiently and profitably whilst maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives and growth targets
- Overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
- Preparing comprehensive financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to support decision-making by senior management and stakeholders
- Managing cash flow and working capital to ensure optimal liquidity and financial stability
- Leading financial planning and analysis to identify cost savings, revenue opportunities, and operational efficiencies
- Establishing and maintaining effective internal controls and compliance frameworks to protect company assets
- Managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
- Monitoring financial performance against budgets and KPIs, providing regular reporting to the executive team and board
- Overseeing tax planning and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax legislation and regulations
- Leading and developing the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement
- Advising on capital expenditure decisions, investment opportunities, and merger and acquisition activities where applicable
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce, finance or related discipline (CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification highly desirable)
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in financial management roles,
with at least 5 years in a CFO or senior finance leadership position
- Demonstrated experience in the hospitality industry or similar service-oriented business environment
- Strong proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Expertise in financial reporting, IFRS or GAAP compliance, and audit management
- Advanced knowledge of accounting systems and ERP software (SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred)
- Proficiency in financial modelling and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of taxation, payroll and superannuation compliance
- Excellent leadership and people management capabilities with experience building and engaging finance teams
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Strategic mindset with ability to identify financial risks and opportunities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
