The Maritime Trainer is a casual position and will form part of the Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy's Maritime Training Team. The role may be based in either Adelaide (Port Adelaide) or Port Lincoln, depending on operational requirements and the successful applicant's location. The position is responsible for delivering specific maritime courses, or components of courses, as required.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver maritime training with a primary focus on: Master <24 Metres, Coxswain Grade 1 and Grade 2, Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 and Grade 2, Shipboard Safety Skill Set, Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency
- Undertake assessment of students and trainees in accordance with Academy and regulatory requirements
- Undertake training duties in other program areas as directed
- Interpret competency standards contained within the Maritime Training Package and ensure Academy courses within the position's area of responsibility meet the requirements of the relevant training package and regulatory standards
- Prepare, review, and update curriculum, training, and assessment materials, learner guides, and associated course resources as required
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records in accordance with Academy policies, procedures and RTO requirements
- Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities relating to training and assessment
- Maintain current industry knowledge, vocational competency and career development relevant to the courses being delivered
