Your current company
This high-profile Australian Government organisation is delivering strategic digital health initiatives designed to improve the secure and consistent exchange of health information. The organisation works closely with jurisdictions, industry stakeholders, and national and international standards bodies.

Your new role
As the HL7 FHIR Data Architect, you will design and develop clinical information products and services that support national health data interoperability.You will play a key role in developing HL7 FHIR Implementation Guides, information models, profiles, and associated validation artefacts. You will also provide specialist technical advice, mentor team members, and collaborate with stakeholders across the Australian and international health informatics community.Your responsibilities will include:

- Designing clinical information products using conceptual, information, and implementation modelling
- Developing and maintaining HL7 FHIR profiles and Implementation Guides
- Using validation languages and frameworks, including FHIRPath
- Authoring and publishing FHIR artefacts using tools such as FHIR Publisher
- Providing expert advice on clinical informatics, interoperability standards, and implementation approaches
- Conducting quality assurance and managing technical risks
- Contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentoring technical team members and building capability across the work area
- Engaging with standards bodies, government jurisdictions, industry representatives, and other stakeholders
- Maintaining contemporary source code management and version-control practices





What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated hands-on development experience with HL7 FHIR
- Strong experience with associated validation languages, particularly FHIRPath
- Demonstrated experience using HL7 FHIR authoring and publishing tools, such as FHIR Publisher
- Experience developing FHIR information models, profiles, and Implementation Guides
- Sound knowledge of contemporary software source code management practices
- Strong conceptual, information, and implementation modelling capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills
- The ability to work independently on complex and sensitive deliverables with limited direction
- Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, or quality assurance

HL7 FHIR certification is highly desirable.Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline security clearance. Appropriate citizenship status will therefore be required.
