Degree C

Launceston

We're looking for an Electrician / Heat Pump Installer who takes pride in doing a job properly, enjoys working with customers and wants the security and support that comes with joining Tasmania's leading multi-trade company.

If you're a qualified Electrician with your Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, we'd love to hear from you.

Don't have your Certificate II yet? That's not a dealbreaker. We're also happy to hear from qualified Electricians who are interested in moving into heat pump installation and are willing to obtain their Certificate II.

This is an opportunity to join Degree C's residential heating and cooling team in Northern Tasmania — with strong EBA rates, paid RDOs and employee benefits that add genuine value to your overall package.

About the role

Based from our Launceston branch, you'll join Degree C's residential heating and cooling team, installing quality systems for customers across Northern Tasmania.

You'll work with leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu, completing installations from start to finish and representing Degree C in our customers' homes.

This is a hands-on role where the quality of the finished job matters. You'll be trusted to manage your work professionally, communicate well with customers and leave every installation to a standard you're proud to put your name to.

What you'll be doing

- Installing split-system air conditioners and heat pump systems

- Completing electrical connections and commissioning

- Working across residential and light commercial installations

- Diagnosing and resolving installation issues as they arise

- Providing professional, friendly service to customers

- Maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship

- Working independently and alongside our wider heating and cooling team

What we're looking for

You'll need:

- A current Tasmanian Electrical Licence

- Construction White Card

- Current manual driver's licence

- Solid electrical and fault-finding skills

- Good time management and the ability to work independently

- A professional approach when working in customers' homes

- Pride in producing neat, high-quality work

- A genuine commitment to workplace safety

A Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems is preferred, however it isn't essential. If you're a qualified Electrician without the Certificate II, we're happy to consider you if you're willing to obtain the qualification and develop your skills in heat pump installation.

Why Degree C?

Degree C has been operating in Tasmania for more than 60 years and today employs more than 300 people across the state.

As Tasmania's leading multi-trade company, our teams work across electrical, heating and cooling, refrigeration, mechanical, fire protection, fabrication and other specialist services.

For you, that means joining an established Tasmanian employer with the systems, people and work behind you to provide genuine long-term job security.

You'll be joining an experienced team, installing quality products and being paid under conditions that recognise the value of your trade.

What you'll earn

This position will be classified between Level 6 and Level 8, depending on your skills and experience:

Level 6 – $50.62/hour
Level 7 – $53.47/hour
Level 8 – $56.68/hour

And your hourly rate is only part of the package.

You'll also receive strong overtime and penalty rates.

Benefits that add up

We want our employees to understand what their entire employment package is worth — not just the number on their payslip.

Along with your base rate, you'll have access to:

- Paid RDOs – optional 36 or 38-hour week and bank hours towards an RDO, giving you the flexibility of a paid day off each fortnight or each month without using annual leave.

- Travel Allowance – get paid extra when you start your day on site, with additional paid travel time for jobs further away.

- Weekly redundancy contribution – on top of your weekly pay, we pay into an approved redundancy scheme. It’s accessible when you leave the company for any reason.

- Income protection up to $1,600/week if an injury or illness keeps you from working, even when it isn't work-related.

- Extended Tool Kit Allowance – employees who choose to purchase and maintain an extended tool kit receive an additional weekly allowance, plus support towards keeping their tools powered and ready to go.

- Parental leave top-up – 100% of your regular base salary while receiving Government Paid Parental Leave, for up to 8 weeks for a birthing parent or 4 weeks for a non-birthing parent.

- Company vehicle - a company vehicle is provided as part of the role.

- Uniform - work clothing and all required PPE provided.

- Company phone or phone allowance.
