What you'll do

As the Scientist, you will apply your scientific expertise and independent judgement to analyse patient specimens, validate test results, and provide specialist advice to support clinical decision-making where required. Working within a multidisciplinary diagnostic environment, you will undertake a range of testing activities in accordance with accredited Pathology Queensland protocols, professional standards, and ethical requirements. You will contribute to the development and improvement of scientific practices, procedures and protocols, while actively participating in quality and service improvement initiatives that enhance patient care. As a valued member of the team, you will build your knowledge through ongoing professional development, collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients, and, where appropriate, provide education, guidance and supervision to less experienced practitioners.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

- A tertiary degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science/Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) relevant to the field from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
- Knowledge and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a large multi-disciplinary laboratory.
- Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
- Ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Knowledge and skill in the provision of diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a large multi-disciplinary laboratory.
- Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.




- Ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
