About the role
Hawkesbury Living is seeking a compassionate, experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our residential aged care team in Richmond, NSW.
This is a casual position offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of our residents. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality, person-centered clinical care while supporting the health, dignity, safety and wellbeing of our residents.
A key focus of this role is maintaining high standards of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) across our facility. As such, current Infection Prevention and Control training/qualification is a mandatory requirement for this position.
You will work closely with our care team, residents, families, medical practitioners and other health professionals to ensure residents receive safe, respectful and individualised care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care to residents in accordance with their individual care plans
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and identify changes in residents' health and wellbeing
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with clinical orders and organisational policies
- Monitor residents' health status, including vital signs, and escalate changes or concerns appropriately
- Develop, implement and review individualised care plans in collaboration with residents, families and the multidisciplinary team
- Provide clinical leadership and support to Enrolled Nurses, Personal Care Workers and other care staff
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical documentation and resident records
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, medical practitioners and allied health professionals
- Promote residents' dignity, independence, choice and quality of life
- Respond appropriately to clinical incidents, emergencies and changes in residents' condition
- Ensure all nursing practices comply with relevant legislation, aged care standards and organisational policies
- Maintain a strong focus on Infection Prevention and Control, including hand hygiene, PPE, standard and transmission-based precautions, outbreak management and infection control practices
- Support the implementation and monitoring of infection prevention and control procedures throughout the facility
- Identify and escalate infection risks and contribute to the prevention and management of outbreaks
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
- Work collaboratively with the broader team to maintain a protected, respectful and supportive environment for residents
What we're looking for
We are looking for a Registered Nurse who is passionate about aged care and committed to delivering safe, high-quality clinical care.
Essential requirements:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) / AHPRA
- Current Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training or recognised IPC qualification
- Demonstrated understanding of infection prevention and control principles and their application within an aged care environment
- Relevant nursing qualification recognised in Australia
- Demonstrated experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably within residential aged care
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Sound knowledge of medication management and clinical documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine commitment to person-centered care and supporting the dignity, independence and wellbeing of older people
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards and continuing professional development
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Satisfactory police check and other relevant screening requirements as applicable
