St John of God Midland Public Hospital we provide a comprehensive range of services including emergency medicine, critical care, day chemotherapy, paediatric care, aged and stroke care, maternity and general surgery.

Our 307-bed public hospital is operated under a public-private partnership between the State Government and St John of God Health Care.

Our Services include wide range of public health care services for people in Midland and surrounding communities. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, public maternity care, Aboriginal pregnancy and maternity support through Moort Boojari Mia, acute mental health treatment and medical and surgical care.

About The Role

As Governance Coordinator you will play a key role in supporting the Quality and Risk Manager to deliver effective governance, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives across St John of God Midland Public Hospital.

Working closely with leaders and stakeholders throughout the organisation, you will help develop, implement and monitor governance frameworks, policies and quality processes that support regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements and organisational objectives. This position is integral to promoting best practice, managing risk and fostering a culture of accountability that contributes to safe, high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

The role is offered on a 12-month, part-time basis working 19 hours per week.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate the hospital's policy governance framework, including policy development, review and implementation. Manage and enhance the electronic policy management system, ensuring policies remain current, compliant and aligned with organisational objectives. Support the identification, monitoring and reporting of regulatory compliance obligations, risks and assurance activities. Assist in the development of governance, risk and compliance frameworks that support accreditation and quality standards.



Coordinate governance projects, audits, reporting activities and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide expert advice to managers and stakeholders on policy, compliance, risk and legislative obligations. Foster strong partnerships across the organisation to promote a culture of governance, accountability and continuous improvement. Coordinate the review, development and amendment of organisational forms in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with governance requirements and operational needs

Your Skills And Experience

We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in policy governance, development and management, ideally within a healthcare environment, coupled with strong knowledge of organisational improvement, compliance frameworks and policy implementation. You will possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to engage, influence and build effective relationships with caregivers and leaders across all levels of the organisation.

Your proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes will be key to your success. Strong consultation, stakeholder engagement and decision-making skills are essential, along with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, database management and document control systems.

Experience in the healthcare sector will be highly regarded, as will tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and experience in strategic planning and strategy development.

Salary: $130,900 to $135,100 per annum (pro-rata) plus 12% superannuationFixed term, part-time position.
