About the Role
An exciting maximum term full-time opportunity has arisen in our Health and Compliance team for an Environmental Health Officer. In this role, you will work to contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive environmental and public health strategy..

The key responsibilities of this role include:
• Ensure residents and businesses within the City of Subiaco comply with public health legislation, including relevant Acts, Regulations and Local Laws
• Conduct investigation and apply appropriate enforcement actions in cases of non-compliance.
• Investigate matters relating to environmental contamination, pollution, food safety, water quality and infectious diseases to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Receive, record and investigate environmental health and noise complaints.
• Undertake routine inspections and monitoring of premises to assess compliance with public health requirements.
• Conduct sampling, testing and investigations relating to food, water and environmental health matters.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the community and relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with the implementation and delivery of environmental health programs, including food sampling programs, water quality monitoring programs, mosquito control programs, health education initiatives and statistical reporting.
• Liaise and collaborate with relevant external organisations on environmental health activities.

Essential Requirements




• Diploma in Environmental Health or Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety) or Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification as outlined in the Environmental Health Officers (Approved Qualifications and Experience for Appointment) Notice 2025.
• Well developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
• Working knowledge of public health statutory requirements (Public Health Act 2016, Food Act 2008, Food Standards, Environmental Protection Act 1986 and subsequent regulations).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain new systems, strategies and procedures.
• Sound written communication skills demonstrated within the context of public health.
• Intermediate ability to use corporate computer systems (including specialist systems)
• Valid Australian Drivers Licence.

Salary Package
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 6. The salary range is $101,289.24 to $111,407.40 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
