The HMC Group is seeking an experienced Assurance Specialist to join our team. Based in our Rivervale office, you will be responsible for providing assurance, compliance, safety, quality and risk support across the HMC Business units.
About the role
The Assurance Specialist supports the Group’s assurance and compliance activities across aviation, training, WHS, environmental and corporate functions. The role conducts audits and reviews, monitors compliance, identifies risks and follows up corrective actions. Working with key stakeholders, the role provides clear assurance and insights to support compliance, good governance and continuous improvement.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Support the Assurance Lead in maintaining and improving the Group’s safety, quality, security, WHS and environmental systems.
- Conduct audits, assurance reviews and compliance assessments across operational and corporate functions.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, standards and risk controls.
- Identify compliance gaps, control weaknesses, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess the effectiveness of processes, controls and management systems and provide practical recommendations.
- Monitor corrective actions and audit findings through to effective and sustainable closure.
- Provide day-to-day assurance support to operational managers and business units.
- Support regulatory surveillance, external audits, customer assurance activities and governance reviews.
- Support Management of Change activities, including risk assessments, compliance reviews and post-change assurance.
- Monitor and analyse safety, quality, compliance, WHS, environmental and assurance performance data to identify trends and risks.
- Support the investigation of safety, quality, compliance, security, WHS and environmental occurrences.
- Prepare transparent assurance reports, findings,
dashboards and governance information to support decision-making.
- Maintain accurate assurance records, audit evidence, compliance registers and reporting information.
- Promote a positive assurance culture through constructive engagement, learning and continuous improvement.
- Build effective relationships across operational, corporate and support functions to strengthen compliance, risk management and assurance outcomes.
To be successful in this role:
- Formal training or qualifications in quality, assurance, auditing, compliance or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in safety, quality, compliance, assurance, audit or risk within a regulated or high-risk setting.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance monitoring and corrective action management.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management and assurance principles.
- Aviation industry experience with knowledge of CASA regulations and aviation standards.
- Experience across WHS, environmental, security or operational environments is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, objective and evidence-based reports and documentation.
- Ability to build effective relationships across different business areas.
- Willingness to travel to operational locations.
- Ability to obtain relevant security clearances as required.
The role has progression to encompasses all duties and responsibilities associated with the position of Quality Manager under the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) for Part 145 operations. The successful candidate should be willing to undergo training to meet these standards.
