Graduate Environmental Advisor (Eloise Copper Mine)

AIC Mines is entering an exciting period of growth across our North West Queensland operations, with Jericho Mine staging into production over the coming months.
Located near Cloncurry , Eloise Copper Mine is an established underground operation producing high-grade copper concentrate. Together with the development of Jericho, Eloise forms an important part of AIC Mines’ growth strategy and offers the opportunity to join a strong operational team focused on safety, teamwork, performance and continuous improvement.
About the Role:
Exciting opportunity for an entry-level Graduate Environmental Advisor at Eloise. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, this role will support environmental compliance and management across a broad range of activities including monitoring and sampling programs, environmental reporting, waste and hazardous materials management, compliance tracking, pest and weed management, and emergency response.
- Completing environmental monitoring and sampling, particularly groundwater and surface water, including scheduling, preparation, fieldwork, laboratory liaison and compliance assessment.
- Manage environmental monitoring data, maintain environmental databases, undertake quality assurance checks, and assist with data analysis and reporting.
- Assist with monitoring compliance against site-specific Environmental Authority (EA) conditions and participate in associated compliance activities.
- Support the development, implementation and continual improvement of environmental management programs and plans.
- Coordinate and undertake weed monitoring and management activities.
- Support the implementation of pest and wildlife management programs.
- Support waste management activities, including the handling, storage and disposal of regulated and general wastes.
- Assist with the management of hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with site requirements.
- Assist with maintaining environmental management systems, incident investigations and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the development and review of site-specific environmental procedures and work instructions.
- Participate in environmental incident and emergency response activities.
- Prepare environmental reports, compliance documentation and monitoring summaries.
- Assist with National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) data collection and reporting.
The position is offered on 15 days on and 13 days off, FIFO from Townsville or DIDO from Cloncurry / Mount Isa. Accommodation is provided onsite at Eloise.
About You:
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys practical field-based work and wants to develop broad environmental experience across mining operations.
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or related discipline.
- Recent graduate with up to 2 years' post-graduate experience.
- Current ‘C’ Class Australian drivers’ licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme climate conditions.
- High level of computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn to operate environmental monitoring and field equipment, including Bennett pumps, ITs and loaders.
- Promote and maintain protected work practices while contributing to a positive safety culture across the operation.
Highly Regarded:
- Previous mining industry experience, including vacation work, internships, placements or employment in any discipline.
- Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS or Avenza Maps.
- Exposure to environmental monitoring programs, including surface water, groundwater and/or meteorological monitoring.
- Experience using environmental data management systems such as MonitorPro.
- Understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements, particularly Queensland Environmental Authority (EA) conditions within the mining sector.
- Experience operating 4WD vehicles in off-road conditions.
- Experience with environmental reporting, data analysis and interpretation.
- Knowledge of weed management, waste management and water management practices.
- ACDC chemical handling training.
