Position Overview
St Mary’s Aged Care is a residential aged care facility providing care to male and female residents across seven wings, including residents who are frail aged and residents who are mobile and may experience confusion or dementia.
We are seeking caring, reliable and positive Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to join our wonderful team.
The AIN contributes to the quality of life of St Mary’s residents by providing safe, respectful and person-centred care under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting older people and making a genuine difference to their day-to-day lives.
St Mary’s currently has AM, PM and Night shifts available.

St Mary’s provides paid buddy shifts and ongoing training to support new team members to become confident in their role.
Successful applicants will be supported to develop the skills required to provide quality, resident-centred care.
For suitable permanent part-time employees, a set roster of a minimum of three shifts per week will be provided moving forward, subject to operational requirements.
Shift Times Available
AM: 6:00am – 2:30pm
PM: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Night: 11:00pm – 6:00am / 8:00am

Key Responsibilities
As an AIN, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing safe, respectful and person-centred care to residents.
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including:
- Personal hygiene and grooming
- Showering and dressing
- Toileting and continence care
- Mobility and transfers
- Positioning
- Nutrition, hydration and meal assistance
- Supporting residents to maintain their independence, dignity and choice.
- Assisting residents to participate in lifestyle, recreational and social activities.
- Following individual resident care plans and directions provided by Registered Nurses.
- Observing residents and promptly reporting changes in their physical, emotional or cognitive condition to the supervising RN.
- Completing required documentation and progress notes accurately and within scope of practice.
- Following infection prevention and control procedures.
- Using safe manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, risks, incidents and concerns.
- Maintaining resident privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
- Communicating respectfully with residents, families,
colleagues and health professionals.
- Working collaboratively with the nursing and broader care team to provide continuity of care.
- Participating in mandatory education, training and competency assessments.
- Maintaining professional conduct and complying with St Mary’s policies, procedures and Code of Conduct.

Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent experience/qualification, in accordance with the requirements of the position.
- Previous experience in residential aged care or a similar care environment is desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
- Ability to follow care plans and written instructions.
- Commitment to resident-centred care.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
