About the Role
Based within the Community Services team and reporting to the relevant Program Manager, you will provide trauma-informed case management and practical support to individuals engaging with the National Redress Scheme. You will work closely with survivors of institutional child sexual abuse, supporting them throughout their redress journey while ensuring services are delivered in a culturally safe, respectful and person-centred manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualised case management and support to clients accessing the National Redress Scheme.
- Assist clients to understand the redress process and complete applications and supporting documentation.
- Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally safe support throughout client engagement.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop support plans that respond to client needs and goals.
- Advocate on behalf of clients and coordinate referrals to internal and external support services, including counselling, legal and wellbeing services.
- Maintain accurate case notes,
records and reporting in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
- Collaborate with community organisations, government agencies and service providers to improve client outcomes.
- Participate in outreach activities and community engagement initiatives to increase awareness of redress support services.
- Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement activities and quality assurance processes.
- Promote the rights, dignity and self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in case management, advocacy or support services within the community services sector.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working with people impacted by complex trauma.
- Strong knowledge of culturally safe and person-centred practice.
- Excellent communication, engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work sensitively and professionally with people who have experienced significant life challenges.
- Robust organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Current C Class Queensland Driver Licence and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- Experience working within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisation is highly desirable.
