Somerset College is seeking an outstanding Teacher – Economics to join our Senior School team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Teacher of Economics, you will:

- Deliver high-quality Economics teaching and learning programs that engage, challenge and inspire students.

- Create inclusive and supportive classroom environments that promote student growth, independence and academic success.

- Design, implement and evaluate curriculum, assessment and reporting in accordance with College and relevant curriculum requirements.

- Monitor student achievement and utilise assessment data to inform teaching practice and improve learning outcomes.

- Foster critical thinking, analytical skills and economic literacy through contemporary and relevant learning experiences.

- Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.

- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum, pedagogy and student outcomes.

- Contribute to the pastoral care, wellbeing and holistic development of students.

- Participate in College events, co-curricular activities and community initiatives.

- Maintain professional knowledge and engage in ongoing professional learning and development.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Relevant teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.

- Experience teaching Economics at the secondary level, year 12 teaching highly desirable.

- Experience in QCAA Economics marking, confirmation or endorsement; or similar roles in other State systems, well regarded.

- The ability to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences that maximise student engagement and achievement.

- Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding of contemporary teaching and learning practices.

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents and colleagues.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

- A commitment to student wellbeing and holistic education.

- A willingness to contribute to the wider co-curricular and pastoral life of the College.

- Experience or a willingness to work within Year 10 of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)
